zoom extents

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by John Callaway, Jun 17, 2006.

  1. I have a large dwg file approximately 64 meg that I am working with.
In R14, when I zoom extents, the main part becomes a dot. I think that
there must be more in the drawing but do not see anything. All layers
appear to be on. My question, is there any way that I can see what
else is on this file. I can't imagine that this engineering firm that
created the file would zoom out this far for no reason. I'm thinking
they must have left something out there but I cannot find it. Any
    suggestions?

You could block out just what you want to work with then reopen it. or
check the layers color to be sure that they don't match the background
    screen.

First, ensure that all layers are thawed *and* ON, to be sure that there
isn't something on an OFF (but not Frozen) layer causing the large extents.
    Then ...

What I usually do in a case like this is to

    ERASE
    All
    Remove
[window select the main drawing portion]
    [Enter]

This gets rid of anything that lies outside of the area of interest. A ZOOM
Extents should now work as expected.

  6. ok. I thought for a moment that maybe you were referring to some kind
    of a hidden view.
