Sounds like a screen resolution problem. Some older monitors give the
"jaggies" simply because they don't have fine enough resolution to
approximate a true straight line at certain angles.

Same goes for the plotter; he must be using an ancient inkjet with very poor
    resolution.

my architect friend has a question I don't know how to answer:
when he draws a strait line in a higher-than 70 degrees angle
the line becomes zigzagged like a staircase and is no-longer a straight
    line.
this line remains zigzagged even in the plotting.
the "regen" function does not solve the problem.
he says he does not have any other problems in AutoCAD besides this one.
    thank you for any advice.

thank you, but his hardware is quite new, and I was told that he should
check to see if the Z coordinate is "0" and this would make the line
    straight again.

I can't see how that would make a difference. Have you tried it?

Nice cross posting! A most excellent way to fill groups with non-relavant
    threads! Idiot.

OK, then; has *HE* tried it? If so, did it work?

I personally don't use AutoCAD. I am trying to help an architect friend of
    mine with his problem.
