This is a problem I would like to find a program to fix. I want to have the power to control the properties of layers that visretain controls. For example I would like the layer state of X-ref layers(freeze/thaw on/off) to be maintained in drawings with X-Ref but not color or linetypes. So that I can go into my base drawing and make changes to layer colors and linetypes and have those changes propagate to the other drawings but not turn on or thaw layers. I know AutoCAD can't do this so I would settle for a lisp or something that I could go into a drawing that contains an X-Ref and have it go back and pull the layers color/linetype from the X-Ref and update the layers in the current drawing. Has anyone ever written or seen an animal like that?

  2. that is something I am working on.
My prog will use dbx to get the settings from the xref, then you can reset various categories from it.
It will be a bit as other things are cooking too.

Well that would be wonderful. If you get it done if you could please let me know where I obtain a copy it would be a very big help.

    Hi, James.
    Well, sorta.
What I found was that trying to copy/create a LayerState outside of "normal"
ActiveX methods was rather fatal, so don't try that unless you have a lot of
    time to kill.
