Xref - Using trim, extend commands.

For some reason I can't trim or extend lines than I overlay onto a base xref
    plan...for instance. It's worked before.
I tag an individual line on the xref (and it shows up dashed like it was
selected properly) but if I want a (overlayed) line (on a different layer)
to extend or trim to it, it won't work.
    What's not going on?

    Using Autocad 2002.

    Thx

So here Cliff K is once more, in the playground of the broken hearts ...
"Edgemode" = '1' ? Not sure this works, but it's the only thing I can think
of right now. Are you sure the lines on the same UCS-'level' ?

Fraid that didn't do it. I'm drawing only in 2D and I made sure there were
no 'z' coordinates either. No layers are locked, etc.
Now I have to draw a line over the xref to extend a line to it, then erase
it, or draw another line over the xref if I want to cut a line with the trim
command and then erase it also.
    Thx anyway.

This usually means that the xref's base point is not at 0,0,0 The
trim/extend commands get confused when the base point is somewhere else.

You're welcome. How did you "made sure there were no 'z' coordinates" ? Is
    the xref you're using a third-party drawing ? If so, I pasted a 3rd-party
block in a drawing once, and later discovered it was an extruded profile in
top-view. It took me some time before I could use it, so ...

Anyway, I never use xref's myself, so I'm afraid I can't help you. Good
    luck, though ...
