Does any one know if it is possible to xclip a nested xref?

  2. Yes, it is.
Even though the nested xrefs are loaded separately, they are part of the
graphic image of the xref that they are attached to.

Just out of curiousity, why not try it. It can't screw things up if it
    doesn't work.

I mean, clip a nested xref without clipping the main xref.

    (should have been more clear)

Uh, open up the MAIN xref drawing, then clip the one you want, perhaps?

  5. I would say no.
What you can do is change the xref name and attach it twice, freezing the
nested xref layers in one xref and then freezing the xref layers of the host
xref and then xcliping the nested xref.

I think. Does this make sense. Two copies of the same, using different xref
names, one with the nested xref layers frozen so they don't show up and the
other with the host xref layers frozen leaving only the nested xref layers
showing which you would then xclip.

Makes sense, but also makes for a lot of work.

    Thanks for your input
