Wipeouts Plotting Black

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Robert Plummer, Apr 15, 2004.

  1. We have built a series of annotation with wipeouts in them. When plotting
they often plot solid black instead of acting as a mask. This occurs most
commonly when plotting to PDF, but it occurs occasionally to different
devices. We get varying results. We have a wide range of plot devices so
also have a wide range of drivers. I have seen posts regarding drivers,
firmware versions, PDF versions, etc. Is there no consistency in plotting
when using wipeouts? It isn't feasible to address every driver or every
device on an individual basis, especially since we have no control over what
devices our clients and consultants may use to plot files we share with
them. Are wipeouts simply this precarious? If so, my inclination is to
restrict their use as a firmwide standard. We want to continue to use the
functionality of wipeouts, but I haven't found any hard, reliable methods to
insure that they plot correctly across the board. Can anyone offer advice,
    input, opinions?

    Thanks.

  2. Wipeout entities are composed of raster data and cannot be plotted to
devices that do not use drivers capable of processing raster data. You
might want to check out the Technical Solutions that are offered in a search
of the Knowledge Base using WIPEOUT or WIPEOUT PLOT as keywords.

There are a few posts suggesting moving the WIPEOUTS to a no-plot layer and
setting that layer's color to color 255 with a 0% screening in your CTB (of
    you use CTBs)...

If you are using TEXTMASK then you can also change the type from WIPEOUT to
SOLID and use the no-plot or color/0% screening on those.
