Windows Registry

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Mark_Abercrombie, Aug 19, 2003.

  1. We plot all of our AutoCAD drawings to .eps files then run them through Distiller to create PDF files. A watermark is added to all files prior to release stating that the document is unreleased. The watermark is added via the prologue.ps file at the time the PDF files are created.

In versions of Distiller prior to version 6, the prologue file had to be located in the Distiller directory. Version 6 requires that the file be located in "Options\Documents and Settings\All Users\Acrobat 6.0\Data". The problem is that we have many users who have set up their computers differently. On some computers the "Options" folder is located on drive C. On others it may be on drive D. In one instance that I know of it's on drive E.

My question is: Is the location of the "Options" folder listed in the Windows registry? Can I use the GetSetting function to retrieve this information? If so, what appname, section, and key do I use?

I've not done any work with the registry so any help would be much appreciated.
