In Wildfire 2.0, I can't seem to blank the layer that my Cosmetic sketch
features were placed on automatically during the modeling process, in a
Detailed drawing view. Even after setting the Detailed view to be
independent of its parent, the Cosmetic layer cannot be blanked only in the
Detailed view. If I blank the Cosmetic layer in the parent view of the
Detailed view only, then it still blanks it in the Detailed view even after
having set it to be independent as previously stated above.

The same behavior seems to hold true for other layers such as my datum curve
    layer, etc.

Does anyone know a workaround for this problem--other than using the
Views-Simplify functionality which I like to avoid at all cause since it
creates a 'hidden instance' of the drawing model and utilizes it for the
    'simplified view'?

First, setting a view independent of the parent effects only those functions that
you access by selecting the view and doing 'Edit>Properties', like View Display. I
don't believe it has any bearing on layers or layer display.

Second, the layer tree gives you access to not only the overall layers
incorporated from the model/assembly into the drawing but to the layers in the
models themselves with the dropdown where you see <current model>. In this list
layered objects, you'll also find some view names. If you click on the one for the
detailed view, you'll see its individual setting which may be different and can be
set differently from the main drawing layers. They may, in fact, all be turned on.
In that case, you could blank them all except the cosmetic layer and see if that
helps. It may even give you some message about setting view layers independently
of the drawing layer status. In any case, the Settings menu has gotten more
complex over the years and is well worth investigating.
