Hi, I'm a total SW newbie. 768MB RAM, 120GB HDD, W2K+SP4. I've just installed SW2005 SP0 and when I try to got on-line help I get an error message saying there is not enough storage. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, but get he same error. I've scanned the system for .hlp files, and the only one I can find in the Solidworks folder is olch2d8u.hlp which is in \Program Files\Solidworks\COSMOSXpress Where should I look for the help files, 'cos I suspect they were never installed? Anyone got any ideas please?
Hi Gary, Help files have the extension '.chm', and can be found (on my machine anyway) in C:\program files\solidworks\lang\english\ Can't help with the error message though, sorry.
Thanks, I found the .chm files OK, but 60 of them had a length of 1KB and each of them give an error when I try to open them. There are another 21 with lengths 17KB and above, and each of these open OK. So it seems that I've got a bad install.
You might try downloading the latest service pack from solidworks: help files are often updated in service packs. which might save you another install, or call your VAR.
Sounds like the initial installation is hosed--was antivirus off?? you probably need to do a clean uninstall before the reinstall. Go to http://www.scottjbaugh.com/Tips_Tricks/Reinstall_Tip.htm for instructions good luck
Do you have at least Internet Explorer 5.5 installed? I think that the Windows Help engine needs it to display CHM files. Ken
