what variable controls length of "dimension line" below text???

    what dimension setting controls the length of the dimension line below
    text. I have been "marked-up" so many times on dwg's for the amount
    of the extention the dimension line has when text falls outside the
    extension lines.

  2. I'm not entirely sure if this addresses your problem but worth a try.
    Go to Dimension Settings / Extension Lines / Geometry / Offset. Set this
    value to a negative number. This negative number multiplied by the text
    height sets the extension line length. A value of minus 5.00 will set the
    extension line length to 5 times the active text height. This was
    originally posted to CCM by Steve Young a few years ago.
