what is the difference AMP and protected hdl code?

    Cadence supports IP model packager ,so we can make a simulation model,
    AMP, by ampkg command.
    Another method to preserve the source code is protecting a code by
    command.

    What is the difference AMP and protected source code?
    Is there any difference in use?
