What is Nesting?

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by mary_eatinger, Jul 1, 2003.

  1. We have an HP 1050c plotter. Apparently it nests (we get messages)and I'm reading that that's a good thing.

First question - Exactly what is it doing? We send a plot in paper space with one viewport and the plotter says it's waiting for nesting.

Second question - If you can send two different plots to the plotter to save paper, how do you get the plotter to wait for the second plot?

    Thanks.

You've answered your first question with your second. Nesting waits for the plotter to receive more files that will fit on the paper. Once the paper is full, it starts plotting. It will only nest for the set time before it plots. In other words, it won't wait forever for you to plot another sheet. You can change the time it nests.
