What is a rar file?

    I recieved a 3d solid model from China. But the file extension end in
    ..rar. What is this format and with what program can it be open. We
    have seats of SW,MDT,Inventor. any suggestions.

    It's a compression format similar to ZIP. Download WinRAR here: http://www.rarlab.com/

    Use Winrar. It is a freeware program. Rar is only another method of
    compression.

    A "rar" file isjust another method of compression, like "zip". You can
    use a program called Winrar, it is a free download on winrar.com.
