WBLOCK problem

  1. I use AutoCAD LT 2000i, in my work as a technical translator. This
week I have a group of drawings that have presented some unique, uh,
"challenges". They're all solved except for one:

The title block has some things that I want to move around. Mainly,
it's because some of the new Spanish text doesn't fit in the space
given by the original title block.

I can't simply explode the block, because it loses the attribute
information (title, approved by, that sort of thing). So, a couple of
years ago somebody on this group gave me this workaround, and I have
    done this many times:

    1. WBLOCK the block to a file
    2. Edit the file, move stuff around as needed
    3. Back to the original drawing, run something this:
    -insert blockname=c:\path\blockname.dwg
It asks if I want to redefine the block, I say yes, then it asks for
an insert point. I hit escape to avoid inserting a block. Presto,
the new block has what I want.

It won't work with this group of drawings. Most of the time, it
simply does nothing. Sometimes, I see an short error message, which I
can't reproduce right now, something about a read/write error.

I can do this with other blocks in the drawing, just not the title
block. I also have an AutoLisp routine that will explode a block and
retain all the attributes, but I would like to keep the block if I can
    before trying that.

The only other thing about these drawings is that they have some proxy
objects, but that has not presented any problem before. Maybe this
time the title block includes a proxy object?

    Thanks.
