Visio for floor plans, etc?

I've done some floor plans with Solidworks and need to do electrical and
    other mechanical layouts.
I was thinking about doing them in Visio, since it seems to have fairly
    large symbol libraries, etc.
Trouble is, I would be starting from scratch on the learning curve, and so
    far, the Visio help files
seem medium, at best, in explaining techniques. I realize that new software
    always seems difficult at first.

Do you think the learning curve is worth it, or should I just use blocks or
    whatever in swx sketches to
    do my layouts?
    thanks

My opinion, Stick with solidworks. Visio is fun for the symbol
libraries, and dragging aroundd with the sticky connections, but a pain
otherwise for what you are trying to do.

do you know of any libraries of arch/mech symbols (electrical, etc)?
I guess they would be blocks?

    DWGEditor?? maybe.

VISIO was at one time given away with SW. I have two. Very useful for
schematics and the learning curve is pretty quick. But floor layouts. I
    don't know about that.
