The Cadence Virtuoso Inherited Connections Tutorial (version 3.0) flow
    guide is now available.

This newly expanded tutorial consists of not only the flow guide
itself, but also sample designs and design kits necessary for a user to
run successfully through the step-by-step documented & supported
recommended inherited connections tutorial in one sitting.

Topics covered in the step-by-step walk-thru include:
    * Handling parameterized power and ground signals
    * Use models for overridable substrate connections
    * Multiple power supplies for a design
    * Comparing differences between implicit & explicit inherited
    connections
    * Guidance for when to use implicit & explicit inherited connections
    * NEW: Interaction with the physical verification environment (ASSURA
    LVS)
    * NEW: Interaction with parasitic resimulation flows
    * NEW: Inherited Connection with DCME and Verilog-A
    etc.

Download the complete tutorial documenation and design database at:

    support team.

    Happy holidays!

    Hello John,

    thanks for this tutorial.
Inherited Connections are always good for
    problems because of misunderstanding, even
for designers which have been working a long time
with cadence and inherited connections ...

    Cheers
    Ralf

    Hi Ralf and others,

You are very welcome. It is fantastic when we all work together toward
a common goal. The inherited connections concept is yet another Cadence
leadership deliverable whose idea comes directly from you, the
    Customer.

I just double-checked the original link below and it worked fine today:
    http://sourcelink.cadence.com/docs/files/Tutorials/inheritedconnectiontutorial.html

What has been updated in this revision are BOTH the inherited
connections document and the underlying design database. The purpose is
to even better provide the designer and CAD team with fully working
examples of the suggested documented & supported approaches to
inherited connections in the Virtuoso custom-IC EDA tools.

Again, if folks don't have access to Sourcelink, please contact your
sales & support teams who can assist you further.

    Good luck, as always!

we can get to the sourcelink page you reference, but the

Download the version 3.0 Tutorial (File size: 15MB)

link on that page doesn't work because the machine is listed as
    cds12453.

Hope to be able to get the tutorial soon, I wasted several days with
some issues with assura and inherited connections recently.

  6. Hi John,

The reason why it worked is because you're inside the Cadence network. The URL
in the message is wrong - the tutorial points to an internal Cadence machine.

I'll contact sourcelink support to get this fixed.

    Andrew.

Ah. Now I understand the issue. Sorry about that folks. The Sourcelink
team will be fixing that soon. Meanwhile, the link Andrew kindly posted
should get the early adopters going just fine. (IMHO, Andrew should win
the next comp.cad.cadence award for excellence & passion for the
    Customer!).

This updated Inherited Connections Tutorial (version 3.0) is a novel
approach pioneered by Cadence. The download is designed so that you can
run the entire suggested flow, in real time, where you don't have to
craft your own test case designs and design kits (they are supplied in
the download tarball). The goal is for you to see for yourself in
record time the suggested documented and supported data, task, and tool
    flows & methodologies.

BTW, once the landing page links are resolved, take a moment to click
the link for feedback. Let the doc folks know what you like and don't
like so they can even further improve the process.

    Good luck,
    John Gianni

  9. The original page has now been fixed so that the link is correct, and all
references to the internal Cadence machine have been removed.

So you should be able to go to:

    http://sourcelink.cadence.com/docs/files/Tutorials/inheritedconnectiontutorial.html

    with no trouble now.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
