Viewport ignored when plotting to HP Desighjet 5000

    Hi there,
I have been plotting files containing viewports successfully to a HP
    Designjet 1055 for some time.
I recently tried to plot the same file to a HP Designjet 5000 without
success as the contents of the viewport are not plotted. The same result
occurs when I tried to create a pdf file. When viewing the pdf file the
entities within the viewport appear momentarily and are then covered when
the rest of the file is displayed.
When viewing the plot preview for both attempts all is displayed as
    expected.
I have tried the Display Order command with no success and also had our IT
support people load the latest driver for the HP5000 from the HP Web site,
    but still no joy.
My work around was to keep using the HP1055 but I want to take advantage of
    the 5000's superior output quality.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

  2. DesignJet 5000 or 5000PS? And if it is the PS version, do you use the PS
driver? If so, try the HPGL2/RTL driver for the 5000, or even plot to the
5000 with the DesignJet 1055 driver that is used now with success on that
    plotter.

We have both a DJ5000 and DJ5000n and use the PCL6 drivers with good
    sucsess.

  4. Isn't that a driver for a LaserJet 5000?

    Thanks Govert,
It's the GL driver we are using with AutoCAD, we use Posterjet RIP software
for Postscript files and I have tried sending through this driver too with
    no success.
I like your idea about using the 1055 driver and sending to the 5000....
it's getting IT support group to do this that's the hard part, we are all
managed desktop here so no permissions to configure print/plot drivers
myself. Would the HPGL2/RTL driver be on the Web or be part of the support
    files shipped with the plotter?
    Cheers,
    Lex

  7. The driver is on one of the CD's shipped with the plotter, and it is also
available at HP's site (there you'll get the latest version)

Note that display order doesn't work with PostScript output (and that
    includes PDF).
