    Greetings,

Is there any way of opening a SolidWorks macro file (*.swp) without
    starting SolidWorks?

For whatever reason, the swp files are binary encoded. It's odd as VB
files are text and can be viewed with a text editor.

    Thanks,

    Chris

For whatever reason, the swp files are binary encoded. It's odd as VB
I might be wrong, but it seems that SW somehow embeds the referenced type
libraries etc. within the swp file. Try checking/unchecking referenced files
from Tools -> References, and see how the file size changes. This might be
an explanation for the apparent binary format.

  3. If you export to .bas they are not in binary.
