VBA help for creating guardrail

Not sure if this is the correct newsgroup to post this in, but I have not
had any help in the Civil3D newsgroup.
I am trying to get a guardrail to come in looking like a solid so when I
rotate my drawing it shows up as 3d and not just a plan view. I have used
the basic guardrail subassembly, which I know says it is only for plan view,
but can't I change the code in the VBA Editor to make it recognize post
width and to link the guardrail to certain points on the subassembly.
I have been reading the help and have created a customized guardrail
subassembly to look like my rail, but now I am lost in how to make it have
    depth??
I have looked into making it a solid, but the guardrail is connected to a
600' bridge that has a vertical curve, so I can't get the rail to link to
the posts when it is a solid. I thought I could just use a corridor and
build the bridge that way - and it works great except for the guardrail is
only plan viewed - when I go to do a "drive thru" it is flat (not 3d) and
the rail does not connect to the posts??
I am very limited in my VBA knowledge, but I am not looking for an entire
class on VBA - just something to get me headed in the right direction.
Can't I open the basic guardrail code in the VBA Editor and tweek it to my
    needs?? But HOW??

    Thanks for any advice,
    Chad

  2. Hi Chad,

Are you absolutely certain you have exhausted all the settings etc. in Civil
    3D?

It does not seem plausible that Autodesk would handle guard rail as you
    describe.

To create the Civil 3D functionality with things like this has taken
Autodesk with all its resources a couple of years using more powerful
    languages than VBA.

There is no way your are going to be able to do a little coding in VBA and
get a replacement for the Civil 3D functionality.

One solution would be to get "Rapid Design Visualisation" which can handle
guard rails elegantly and give 3D views - both static and in movie format.

  3. Hi Chad,

Post your question about how guard rail works in the Civil 3D newsgroup.
Before posting make a screen grab of the relevant part of the drawing to
support the question and save the screen grab in PNG format. This will be
only about 5% the file size for posting.
