Variable name to function

    It does just what I want.

    Glad it works for you, this was a good exercise. Now I'll have to think
    about what I might want in a comparable library function.

    BTW I've used a very similar function to your example for quite a while,
    which I called OE for Offset and Erase. It's a very handy thing to have. In
    this particular case, the "global" could be stored in the OFFSETDIST
    variable, but with your new function you have the ability to keep it
    separate from that.
