Using parameters in PWL data file

Discussion in 'Cadence' started by stephen.greenwood, May 17, 2007.

  1. The "vsource" element allows one to create a PWL voltage source using
a data file. This works fine when one uses simple numerical data
(including suffixed numbers) to specify the time-value pairs, like
    this:

    0 0
    50p 1
    1n 1

However, I would like to parameterize my PWL data file with variables.
I tried it with design variables, like this:

    0 0
    trise 1
    tper 1

I set "trise" to 50p and "tper" to 1n in the ADE, but this doesn't
work. Spectre executes, but it seems to simply ignore the lines that
have variable names in them. I tried various combinations of
delimiting characters (parentheses, single- and double-quotes, etc.)
in hopes that would help, but no luck.

Does anyone know if it's possible to parameterize a PWL data file? If
so, how? Thank you for your time.

  2. Nope. There's an enhancement request asking for this though. If you
want it, I suggest contacting customer support and asking for it that way, and a
duplicate PCR (Program Change Request) can filed increasing the likelihood
of it being done due to higher demand.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
