    Good morning all,

Ok, here goes... I am a "hard core, old school" AutoCAD user (15yrs)... I love using the keyboard, and have LISP routines and Alias' for everything...

...and this suits me just fine... except for one thing...

The beauty of the keyboard, is that I can enter most of my commands, with my left hand, while keeping my right hand on the mouse... what drives me nuts though, is when I want to enter a transparent command, I have to go out of the way (right side of keyboard), to press the {'} (single quote) key.

Has anyone come up with a way to either map a different key, e.g. the "backquote/tilde" key [`/~] to be a single quote, or some other ingenious method to invoke transparent commands without using toolbar buttons / menu items...???

    Any ideas/solutions really appreciated!

    Thanks

    Steve

The only transparent commands I use regularly are my point filters. I made up
commands utilizing the keys surrounding the apostrophe, so I have 2-key calls for
those filters. '[ is .xy of CEN, '] is .xy of End, etc.

Not what you're after, but it was my easy solution when I asked the same question
    years ago. HTH.

    http://www.ksikeyboards.com/product/pos/index.html
    or
    http://www.fentek-ind.com/spkbmck142.htm

i prefer the fentek, but current situations have me using a logitech
cordless, which has a handful of slightly programmable keys. it gets me by.

i find myself using the key programmed for the layer-state-manager the most.

you'll have to read the manual for programming tips.

pretty much whatever you want it to do (within the scope of a keyboard) it
    can be done.

  7. Hello, GTASteve!
You can generate the most convenient for you keyboard layout (e.g. swap ~ and ').
    For Windows NT, 2000, XP:

    Steve,

A software solution I use, which does the trick and more. QuicKeys at
    http://www.cesoft.com/

I'm (mouse) left handed. The + key in the numeric keypad isn't much use to me. With
QK I alias the ' key there. So to enter a distance of 5'-2", I type 5+2 in the
    keypad.
