    this has been posted before but was never answered ;

    ------
All of the sudden all of our workstations are getting the same error message
when we try to plot "Unrecognized version and cannot be read". If you hit
"Ok" it kicks you out of AutoCAD. If you hit "Cancel" about 5 times, it will
eventually plot. I looked in the AutoCAD "Knowledge Base" (TS65521) and it
said it was caused by a corrupt plot stamp file (.PSS). The 3 solutions
given were to edit the file in Notepad, use a different plot stamp, or turn
off the plot stamp. I have tried all 3 of these to no avail. Has anyone else
run across this problem? It happens on our plotter and all of the other
small printers in the office. It happens with all drawings. We are running
Acad 2k2 - SP1 on Win 2000 machines. As far as I know, nothing has changed
on our network as of this morning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.------so anyone know what to do, I
have the same exact situation here and I needto resolve it fast.thanks for
any help or idea I could try.

Something certainly has changed by the sound of it! Probably a small
corruption somewhere - have you tried fixing the drawings with Intellicad?
Open and save (sounds mad, but it has worked for me in the past)!

I don't know about Intellicad. The only way I found to fix the problem was
uninstalling AutoCAD and re-installing it, just re-installing over did not
    do the trick.

I don't think my problem was related to a drawing, because the error was
coming up just by opening the options window without having any file opened.

But thanks for giving your idea

IntelliCAD is worth it's weight in gold for this kind of thing...I've
recovered the money it cost me over and over again.

Only last week I managed to sort out a drawing that would only load
34% into AutoCAD and then stop!!!

Turned out to be a currupt hatch patten - once we had loaded and
removed the item from the file, the user could once again load it into
    AutoCAD.

It took us an hour to find the solution, but we did not loose days of
    draughting time.

  5. In your first posting you wrote "... getting the same error message
when we try to plot". How can you plot without having any file opened?

(This question is only for my own clarification to understand your
    question right)
