"Unknown Automation Error"

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Dan Stroschine, Jan 6, 2004.

  1. Everyone,

I am trying to trace what is causing this error in a macro that was working
    fine yesterday.

    Background:
The macro uses a form to collect data from the user then dumps that data
into an excel spreadsheet. The macro then takes that data, along with other
data, and opens a template, set some design variables and then adds text to
    the layout.

The macro was working well yesterday. Today when I try to run the macro by
pressing a command button on the spreadsheet I get an "Unkown Automation
    Error".

The funny thing is after it gives me that the first time, everytime I put
the cursor over the button, not clicking mind you, I immediately get the
same error. Sometimes it takes me to the line that the error is from. It is
the very first line, where I am just declaring the autocad application
object. Othertimes is takes me to the sub that only has the line to show the
    form.

I have tried this with both the Autocad 2000 and Autocad 2004 references and
    I get the same thing.

A guy with the same computer as I can use it fine if he changes the
reference to ACAD 2004, because he does not have ACAD 2002 installed like
    me.

    Any ideas....please

    Thanks
    Dan

    Dan,

Without seeing some code it's difficult to tell. If you want to forward a
snippet to my email I'd be happy to take a look.
