I apologize for the blatant self promotion and I will stop quite soon.

I have given away 2 Solidworks bibles and have two more up for grabs to
the 600th and 650th registered users as well I have some other prizes
for the 700th and 750th I will announce the prizes soon but here are
    some hints 3Dconnexion and inspirtech...

Again I am not trying to get people to leave here infact I encourage
them to stay and use this group it can only help you. But there are some
other great resources at SolidMentor that you can capitolize on, the
Wiki, links section, podcasts and blogs... also participation is hightly
encouraged, we have a few experts watching the site and we need some
people to challenge us with some questions. No matter what level you are
at please come and check it out, we all started somewhere and respect
those that are just starting out.

    Best Regards
    Ben

    Let the flaming begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You failed to post this on alt.machines.cnc. Quite a few machinists
are using Solidworks and need a site where they can go to ask
questions about SolidWorks. The next generation CAM products will be
based inside of SolidWorks, Inventor, SolidEdge, etc. I'm currently
doing extensive beta testing on this product right now:

    www.hsmworks.com

SolidWorks / HSMWorks has very significant advantages over legacy code
cam programs such as Mastercam, Gibbscam, Surfcam, etc.

I would appreciate if you would let the few of us on alt.machines.cnc
that realize that legacy code cam programs like Mastercam, Gibbscam,
Surfcam, etc are in deep trouble know more about SolidMentor.

BTW, I'd like to see a comprehensive discussion of multiple contexts
(when a part references other parts that were created in other
assemblies) occur on SolidMentor. I feel this is a subject that would
benefit from extended discussion / tutorial / video.

You'd like to see a discussion of multiple contexts? Look asshole, thats
a dark corner of the sofware your wasting a lot of time in. What you
doing in theat darkj corner? [wackety-wackety-wackety...]

I don't get the part about machenusts and solid mentor. You want that
guy to create a place fror machenuts?

Just cause you cross post means he must as well? Even for an asshole,
that's kind of assholish. Jon, nobody wants to hear yer shit.

    Daisy.

  4. Daisy,

What nobody wants to hear is your language... you said absolutely
nothing that touched on any content besides hacking apart a guy with
solid Questions. NO question is stupid. And as for cross posting...
you are the one cross posting, this thread is not the profanity and
    vulgarity thread.

Jon has a valid concern, Many machinist are starting to use SolidWorks
especial as machinist are required to work with Electronic Drawings,
and run computer control equipment that daisy would never
understand. Because daisy, I am sorry, but Trades people are not the
scum of the earth.... Machinist program 5 axis Machining centers to
make parts to tolerances that are just a number to you. These guy
crank out parts to .0001" tolerances at times... do you know what that
is? paper is .003" that is 30 times thinner then paper. You may
thing you are the Somebody, but Jon is the somebody.... get out of the
stone age were trades people were grunts!!! or you will be one of
those engineers that loose your job to a machinist!!!!

Each Profession is made up of Professionals... skilled at what they
do. Realize it... and "SHUT UP" until you do.

    Jon,

you are very correct, the abilty to run your cam package in the native
design environment offers advantages beyond belief. Among those,
Engineers can make last minute changes to geometry and have CAM files
update instantly... Maybe we should fill daisy in. Present
technology does not allow for your designed part to just "poof"
happen. It takes time, and skill to create it. Changes to designs
cost time... and money and these advantages will help that.

    well... I ranted enough...

BTW, ben at SolidSmack is out for the SolidWorks user... and I am sure
that if there is a demand for machinist to learn aspects of SolidWorks
he will make provisions for that. And I BTW and the creator of the
inspirtech tutorials that Ben is giving away... so if you win them
daisy.... enjoy, they were created by a man who is a licensed
machinist, and who has a mutual respect for engineers.

    Ignorant:

"Jon, I never forgot any of your postings about SDRC I made the wrong
decision in spite of what you said. There have been a number of times
that my Wife has told me to be careful in dealing with someone and
after words says "I told you so". She earned the right to say it as
well as you have earned the right to say I TOLD YOU SO. I made a
decision that went against my better judgment and as usual it turned
    out poorly. .... Tom Brewer

    Ignorant:

"I do not purchase programs unless I know before hand that they are

    Ignorant:

Tom Brewer thinking he can and his pals Joe788 can play their staking
games, lie on a repeated basis and suffer no consequences for doing
    so.

    Ignorant:

Someone who has a proven track record of not being able to deal with
or accept the kind of change that occurs in the cadcam market... now
that's ignorant or should we say that's Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Someone who doesn't live in San Diego yet insists there is no shortage
of CNC machinists here... now that's ignorant or should we say that's
    Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Someone who criticizes someone on SolidWorks but has never helped
anyone with specific SolidWorks answers. Someone who is not able to
answer any questions that "Vinny" had on master modeling or skeletal
modeling. Someone who has never posted any models they have done...
now that's ignorant or should we say that's Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Tom Brewer's failure to understand who Matt Lombard really is.

    Ignorant:

Tom Brewer's unable to comprehend what's on the cover of the
    SolidWorks Bible:

    "Whether you're a new, intermediate, ...."

    Ignorant:

Someone who can't understand more than a simple "I love it!" or "I
hate it!" type of comment ... now that's ignorant or should we say
    that's Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Tom Brewer implies that because you acknowledge that the $25
SolidWorks course covers subjects / topics that the $650 SolidWorks
course didn't that you're now somehow an idiot and got screwed when
you decided to purchase the $650 SolidWorks course.

    Conclusion:

Tom Brewer is a SolidWorks expert. A SolidWorks expert is someone who

    Consider a CAD/CAM system not a 2-1/2 to 3-axes add-on to a CAD system.
You've just met jb I take it.

WHAT "solid Questions" from poor clueless??
He's a buzzword and ad junkie full of clueless hype & BS.
For about a decade but still no clues.
He's not actually a CAD or CAD/CAM or CAM user AFAIK.
If he were he'd have a few clues.
And the "machinist" content goes ... ?
Do a check or jb's postings under many of his names.
Don't bother much checking on the BBS systems . He's banned
for very sound reasons on almost all of them. Even by IP address.
You are a newie to jb. HE loves such.
    WHAT?
    See his recent video rants.
    CAD/CAM is NOT new !!!
And let's see some proof that he's actually a machinist of any sort
    either.
He's been posting to AMC for about a decade too. Minus clues.

See this & poke about on the links from it:
    http://www.geocities.com/banquercadcam/
Not jb who neer finished HS & cannot grasp basic trig or shop math
or MDI CNC "Macro" programming or machining basics ... or hold any
job at any (claimed) "machine shop" for more than about 3 (claimed)
    months before they catch on.
    Have you met jb yet?
NOT jb. Even simple 2 1/2 axes confuses him. I doubt he's ever even
seen a 5 axes machine tool.
NOT jb who uses a "diamond hone" to mangle his reamers &
"double drills" his holes & uses a "flycutter" on a Bridgeport to
"fix" precision ground stock he thinks is .0002" too thick (or thin) ...
    Who?
He has many little voices in his head .. and is often off his meds.
    **Small** sample of his voices:
    Topdownbydesign
    OS Noir
    Frank Booth, jr
    dominantjon
    Mr.X
    jbtech
    Clinton Upyers ?
    Haywood Jablowme
    Normand Blais

    jon banquer

One that cannot even do simple shop math?

And don't confuse an engineer with a paint-by-the-numbers
    cad-jockey/seat-warmer either.
What is the name of the profession that collects buzzwords from pretty ads?
    Meet clueless jb <G>.

    Tom Brewer Writing About SmartCAM:

"I ended up paying a consultant $40.00 per hour for two weeks."

"FYI, when I said "Solid modeling" in reference to SmartCam it was
tongue in cheek. What you could not see is that when I was typing that
I was laughing to myself. Anyone that uses SmartCam and Solid
Modeling in the same sentence cannot be taken seriously."

Recently Tom Brewer said SmartCAM had no user interface problems and
yet the record shows Tom Brewer thinks SmartCAM does indeed have user
    interface problems:

"The only real problem that I run into is that the screen can get
cluttered and it becomes difficult to pick and choose elements in Free
Form. I just use the utility masking feature to hide what is in the
way, that cures the problem but it does add work (I tried the snap
filtering and snap options but for me it was not the best way), I
have seen other packages that handle picking and choosing in better."

    Conclusion:

Tom Brewer thinks he's a SolidWorks expert. A SolidWorks expert is
someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows
    absolutely everything about nothing.

It's called being honest and sincere Jon, you should try it.

Here is my full post including the part you cut and pasted above.

    [
    Michael,

The Internet is great but nothing can compete with talking with
someone face to face. It is easy to write something one way
and have it read completely the opposite. It is not possible
to look into someone's face and know it is a joke, that they
are pulling you leg or what their meaning is.

Michael I believe you, I have shot myself in the foot, not an easy
thing to do when it is in your mouth and your head is in your ass.

I hope you will accept my apology.

Thank you for responding. I enjoyed reading your email response.
I do not believe in conspiracies but felt you were misleading us.
Sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused you.

I may be oversensitive to SDRC questions. I tried to use the reply
button to answer those who sent me email from SDRC but kept
getting it back as undeliverable. I will contact them by phone next
    week.

Thank you for your offer of help. If I can be of help to you I would
    be pleased to as well.

I have posted my apology in all areas I remember that I originally
posted to, incase I missed any I am posting here as well.

The only thing worse to me than making a mistake is to not admit to
    it.
