  2. The "." tells AutoCAD to use the internal command, ignoring any possible
Undefine of the command. The "_" tells AutoCAD to use the English version of
the command for international versions of AutoCAD.

    Hello caderudite,

The period character (.) is used so you're able to always access a built-in AutoCAD command, even in case it has been (mistakenly) undefined by a user with the UNDEFINE command. See Help, UNDEFINE command for more information.

The underscore character (_) is used to support foreign language versions of AutoCAD, it ensures that the command name will be translated so that a foreign language version is able to understand it.

    With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.
