to copy objects to another layer on the same position

    how to copy objects to another layer on the same position

    left click the object you want to move to the new layer, then open the
    "layers" dropdown ( no need to open the whole dialog box ) and select
    (left click)the layer you want to move the object to , right click or
    hit enter the object will now assume the color and linetype of the new
    layer.

    This will MOVE the objects to the new layer, the original poster wanted to
    COPY the objects. The express tool command "copytolayer" will do it.

    Assuming you have the full version of Autocad, this macro will do what you
    want ...
    ^C^C_select \_copy;p;;@;@;(sssetfirst nil (ssget "p"));properties;
