To all V8 users a question about corruption

Discussion in 'Microstation' started by Anthony and Kirsty, Jun 28, 2003.

  1. I was told by Bentley that V8 file format cannot be corrupted, and
    there fore
does not have any EDG like functionality. Is this true about these files not
    becoming
    corrupted?

Per se, it is not true (and never was).

Faulty Network Interface Controller (NIC) or shaky hard disk can corrupt just
about anything, including V8 DGN files. Add to it weird compatibility problems
like those encountered in mixed W2K/XP environments, spice it with some network
storage appliances (aka computerless file servers) which are known to not support
the low-level file I/O properly and you have your garden variety of corruptions.

  3. I have some guys at work who can corrupt a drawing just but sitting down at
    the desk next
to the computer (sorry Lewis) so I am about to plant the big migration to V8
    just getting myself prepared.

    Thanks
