Time for a new Laptop

Well my old trusty Alienware laptop has just bitten the dust -
graphics card has died! so I'm looking for a replacement and the spec
of this looks tasty and a snip at £2300.00

Has anyone got one and is using with SWX? Read spec below......

of the most powerful notebooks on the market, you've probably already

just bought a new laptop from dell M6400 covet wit with fx3700 1gb.
i also considered the w700.
because we bougt more computers at once dell gave massive discount.
with almost the same specs as the you describe.
I wanted to use xp 64 bit, but mcafee security didnt accept that.
so went to vista64 bit and everything works fine ....EXEPT SOLIDWORKS 2009
x64.
my var couldnt solve the problem, and the problem is under investigation for
3 days now in the US.
I am afraid to have to go back to XP 32 bit.

But anyway the laptop from dell has a keyboard that feels a bit crappy.
the dvd player makes a lot of noise .
So if i had the choise again , i would go for the lenovo W700.

The M6400 was on my short list but I don't have the luxury of buying
more than 1 - so the W700 beat it on price.
Do you know if the x64 issue with SWX2009 is common with all brands -
or is it just Dell?
While on the subject do you know if SWX 2007 and 2008 run OK as I
still have clients using both?

I'm not sure why, but SolidWorks has been slow to certfiy the newest
crop of mobile workstations. The W700 is ONLY certfied on XP-32.

The Dell M6400 was just certified for Vista-64 and XP-64 in late
November. The recommended drivers are the same for both the 2700m and
3700m graphics.

I found out what the error was.
Service pack1 from sw 2009 messed the installation up.
after deleting and reinstalling sw 2009 the problem was solved.
I will stay on sp0 and everything should be ok.

the performance increase of x64 over x32 is very small.
and i think that because the Vista OS takes up a lot of memory.
Maybe a xp32 system may outperform the vista system.
I dont think you will have problems with Sw2007 and 2008.
