Tiff crashes plotting to PDF???

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Warren McCrory, Jan 18, 2005.

  1. I am having a problem trying to get a file we have to print to a PDF file when ever I try to turn on the tiff in the background. It plots perfectly fine any other way that I have tried it but trying to got to a PDf gives an immediate "fatal error: out of memmory" error. I even tried downloading PDF995 to see if mabye it was just Acrobat but with the exact same result. I have cleaned out all of the extra junk, purged & recovered the file (no errors found), all to no avail.

Any one out there have any ideas? The people who we are using to produce a color plot of this file have a very inexperienced person doing there AutoCad printing so they are having problems & sending them a PDF would go a long way to simplifying things.

    - If you need to add a raster image with many colours (such as sky
    background), use jpg.
    - If you need to have a bw or grayscale image turn them into bitmap tif. Use
dithering to imitate grayscales if necessary.
    - Transparency works nicely with these, useful with eg. trees on facade
    foreground.
    - Plot to eps with some hp PS driver instead of acad eps driver (better
results with high resolution images), convert to pdf in distiller
(Illustrator might show just a corner of a hp plot)

    Good luck.
