Thickness of lines

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Andrea Kürzl, Jul 6, 2003.

  1. I would like to print lines in different thicknesses. I do this by setting
"lineweight" in the layer-window. So all lines of a certain layer have the
same thickness, regardless of the color.

Is there a way to control the thickness by color, for example red lines are
    ..5mm, green lines .3mm, etc.

My English is not that good, so I dont understand everything in the help of
    Acad.
Is that right, what I found out?
What I know, is, I can do that with plot style tables. But this creates a
new file, and so I have to send with each drawing a plotstyle-tables-file,
which is inconvinient for the other user. So I have to control the
line-thickness only by layer. This information is within the drawing.

    Thanks, Andrea (ACAD2000)

    This is really funny :)
What you describe (perfectly) is AutoCAD's old (pre-A2000) way of
controlling lineweight. I think, from recent posts, that most here
would recomend that you stick to your present method. You could also
set lineweight for each individual object.
If you still want to set lineweight by colour look into "ctb" files
in Help then ask again. There is a setting you will have to change in
    Acad - see "convertpstyles".

  3. Just to quibble.....
It was the ONLY way back then. It is now one of TWO ways of plotting.
I'd bet you a virtual pint that most acad users still use the 'old' method,
even if they are running r15 or newer versions. (Not that I am saying all
    should or shouldn't.)

  4. Yeah, but I was even referring to new drawings of new jobs.

  5. What happened?
The answers to my posting dont refer to my posting at all. But they appear
as answers to my posting in my Outlook express.
I posted on 6th July 20:50, and Michael Bulatovich answered on the 7th, but
not to my posting. Why do I see it as answer to my posting then?

  6. You're View in OE might be hiding the other messages in the thread, or your
server may have deleted the older messages in the thread. Threads can take
on a life of their own, and so after a while the chatter may have little to
do with your original question. If the messages are lost to you, you could
try a group search on google to recover the lost messages....
