    They use heat in processing/making them too. Just no current flow
    (at the time).
    If you let it get to hot again it would happen again.
    Perhaps they also put in a thermal overtemp cutoff?
    Probably too much to expect but still possible.

    Just don't plug in hot stuff.

    so what happens if you plug it in hot?.. you get an arc across weak
    solder joints and that blows them out?


    you woulld think if the device was thermally protected it would say so
    on the lable..a feature to bragg about etc. nothing on the
    lable. maybe they ar thermally protected to preclude fire and law
    suits, but not reliably enough to go on record with it.
