Tangents to ends of ARC

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Sabin Olteanu, Sep 29, 2004.

  1. I am new to AC coming from MicroStation and I can understand the "basics":
like getting tangents at the end of an pre-existing arc? It seems like the
tangent snap floats on the arc....

Also, I rotate the view using the DView command/ twist but then ortho is not
ortho anymore - and while I rotated the UCS the same amount: it took 2 days
to figure out I was not hitting my EaglePoint surfaces anymore...and
    switched back the UCS...

    Any help?

Draw a line from the arc's center point to the arc end, then rotate the line 90° about the end point.

Use snapangel to reset your Ortho or use the attached lsp.

    Sabin,

IIUYC, one way to do this would be to use the command line
command: -UCS/Object and then select the end of the arc you're needing to
draw lines tangent to (Ortho ON).

Use: -UCS/Previous to return to what it was before.

Oops - I guess the command line UCS command is still just: UCS (and
    not -UCS)
(and also note that the oBject option (B to access) does not display on the
    command line.)

At least in 2005 the command would be UCS, then OB for object. B will not
work. And if you use UCS, N, you will see the list of other available
options, one of which is OBject.

    Kent,

Thanks for the clarifications on this.

I personally don't use the OOTB UCS function much - so I get sort of rusty
on the exact syntax in my mad rush to post -- basically, I knew it was in
there, but one'l usually have to root around a bit to decypher my comments.
    ;)

At any rate, as I hope many do, I have a custom set of command abbrevation
macros that generally handle stuff like this... UB on my machine calls UCS
    with the OBbject suboption.

    Best regards,
