SWX translator ProEngineer to 2001 plus

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by David Mirylees, Jan 21, 2004.

  1. I am running 2001plus and the unmentionable has happened :-(
I have been asked to look at some ProE files.
Is there a translator to import/open ProE prt files in 2001plus?

    Many thanks

Yes use pro desktop express and then export out as a step into SW
Pro desktop express was free at PTC website at one time

I dont think Pro desktop express is available.

Maybe try to find someone using 2004 that is willing to open them for you
    then save out as parasolid....

Could you save it in ProE as *.stp or *.sat or *.igs file?
and than import as 'dumb' part into SWX? I believe that only 2004 SP1 has
capabilities of recognising features from ProE files up to 2001i version

  7. I have done it, but it is a multi step process.

    1)Must have someone with SW2003 or 2004 w/Featureworks.

2)Featureworks converts the Pro/e features(only up to 2001, not Wildfire)
into Solidworks parametric features(some may not work).

3)SW2003 or 2004 export Parasolid to you.

    or

If you just need the Pro/e files as an "envelope" or "place holder-
(taking up volume in an assy)", like the others suggested have
the Pro/e guys export STP or STEP. Iges looks like hell in wireframe.

    AFAIC
