  1. Yipppeeee!

I got the word that I get to go, so my question is this (for a long
thread) - who all is going from this group? I plan to be at the user group
meeting Monday night, so that would be a good place to meet. It will be fun
to put faces to these people that I already know from this group. Sound
    off, everyone.

I'll be there but I'm going to the Reseller Conference and I'm probably
    leaving on Monday sometime.

    Regards,

  3. Wayne,
A better place to meet and mingle would be the evening receptions. The user
group meeting is more for user group leaders (such as yourself) and those
users interested in belonging to or starting a group. We'll have a pretty
full agenda and will be focused on user group issues.

You might also find that many of the "regulars" here aren't necessarily
    regulars at the conference.

  4. So, from your experience, there isn't any good place & time to meet? I was
trying to establish some sort of marker for everyone to shoot for. I would
like to meet each and every one that I know from here because it makes for a
better exchange of information when you can put a face behind the words. If
there really isn't any good, common time & place, I will just have to watch
for people. I would still like people to "sign in" here so I know who to
    watch for. Thanks.

  5. Well, this has been tried before. I remember some years ago the idea of
everyone wearing a button on their lapels signifying a "newsgroupie" was
floated around. I don't remember seeing a single button.

The best way to meet people is to go up and introduce yourself. You could
try scanning name badges as you walk around, but they're awfully small and
worn in an area that could get you in trouble when looking at the ladies.
You'll meet a lot of good folks at the user group meeting, and also get a
chance to meet some of the regulars here during sessions (many of them are
presenting). I also suspect that some people would rather remain anonymous,
    for various reasons.

Youll be amazed at how friendly everyone is. As a collective group, the
folks that go to SolidWorks World are a the kind of people that will simply
stop you in the hall and ask how you are...where are you from...how do you
like SolidWorks. Make it a point to sit at a different table for each meal
function and strike up a conversation. Linger after the sessions and get
involved with the informal Q & A that nearly always happens - another great
    way to meet people.

Judging from past years, I would guess that very few of the folks here
attend. I understand your desire to put faces with names (I am really hoping
for a bob z. sighting), but you won't be disappointed with the other folks
you'll have a chance to meet.

If I can afford it, I'll be there.

After the reg fee and hotel, It'll be pretty expensive.
Can any give a guy who's spending his own money, an idea of whether it's
    "worth it" or not?
Some of the Breakout sessions look pretty interesting.
Could I get a rundown on what not to miss, or what to avoid, how to manage
your time, or any other advice from past attenders?

    Thanks,
    Muggs

  7. I just signed up myself, hopefully work will reimburse me. If not it is well
worth the money in my opinion. I plan on attending the user group meeting
Monday night also & I hope to see you & many others at SWW.

  8. I will also be attending. I also had the same question Muggs. I was
assured by a number of people it was well worth the trip. It being
pretty close to home I couldn't resist. See you all there!!

If I go it will be Tuesday and Wednesday only. They dropped one day of
content this year and replaced it with roundtables (focus groups).

Pick and choose your breakout sessions ahead of time. Then work your
schedule. Get into breakout sessions early so you get seating, especially
    the sessions with hands on.

Use Orbitz, Priceline or other such service to book a room for cheap if you
don't mind not staying in the same facility that the convention is in.

Dress warm if you aren't from Wisconsin.
