Switching form 2000 to 2004 or 2004LT (already posted in alt.cad.autocad)

  1. Hi-

    I need your opinion/comments/advice/experiences etc...

I work at a civil engineering firm and since AutoCAD 2000 'expires' we are considering upgrading to 2004. As you all know, AutoCAD and AutoCAD licenses are a bit on the expensive side, and we're a small firm so there if we don't need to spend the money we'd prefer not to.

So here's the deal, we were wondering what the differences are between the full version, and the LT (lite) version and what people have heard/experienced etc.

    Thanks!!!

If you are a Civil Engineering Firm then take a look at LDDT

Basics are Full version = 3D and Lisp if you run Full version without
these then you could use LT. However the difference in cost between
puchasing LT ( you can't get LT on subscription unless you have more
than 50 copies ) you might as well upgrade and pay the annual
subscription to keep your software updated. (Others around you will )

Don't get me wrong, dealing with Autodesk is like making love with a
condom on. One gets a feeling of safety and security whilst being
    screwed.
