Has anybody else run into problems selecting open documents in 2008?
What I am trying to do is select one of several open documents from
the Window menu. I might pick a drawing of an assembly and get a a
part instead. Using CTRL-TAB gives the same result. SW picks a
seemingly random item, sometimes not even a part that was open, but
may have been contained in the assembly.

    SW2008 SP1.1
    WinXP SP2

Yes... I've seen that too.....and discovered one thing, Ctrl-Tab won't
bring up a minimized window. I have a habit of minimizing one open
document to get to another....think I have to get rid of that habit.
Never seen it bring up a not opened document though.

The assembly has a lot of in-context parts. It is those parts that
frequently come up instead of the assembly drawing.

Might it be so that You have the setting >load referenced documents<
    set to >all<?..... I use the setting >Changed only<

    Krister,

I likely do have it set that way; I'll check on Monday. However, that
should not cause CTRL tab to select a part when an assembly or a
drawing is picked from the display of icons. And it shouldn't cause
the same behaviour in the list under the windows menu.

Did you try that setting and get the same behaviour that I am getting?

I had that problem while beta testing 2008 but have not run into it
since being released. I very seldom use the Window menu since learning
the CTRL TAB toggles between the open windows. I didn't have the problem
toggling between windows using the CTRL tab during beta.

Using the Window menu, it seems as if the pointer is off by one so if
A,B,C and D are open and I pick on D, C is brought to the front. If it
was my Palm Pilot I would recalibrate the digitizer.

Now I'm on a new installation of SW 2008 64 Bit on a 64 bit OS and
seems to have the opposite problem of Yours. I have open documents not
showing up in the CTRL-TAB browsing or in the Windows menu. So from
start I thought I repeted Your problem....not opened doc's showing up
instead of the the chosen one, but minimizing the other showed that
there were documents open then I could not see in the menus.
