SW2007 Pack and Go

  1. Watch out!

I have found that when doing a Pack and Go in SW2007, it will not only save
the new copy of the files, it will also update your original files, whether
you want it to or not.

Here's the scenario. You have some files in SW2006 that you have been
working with. But for the moment you have SW2007 open and are working on
something else. Now a buddy asks you for a copy of an assy out of the other
job, so you open it with SW2007, being careful not to tell it to save, even
though saving should be a habit by now. Ok, Pack and Go what you want,
carefully close that assy without saving, and oh, no, SW2007 has also
    overwritten your original files. Crap!

I feel that the original files should NOT be saved unless I tell it to save
my originals. The obvious short term solution here is to either never open
anything you don't intend to convert, or make sure ALL files are read-only
just to make sure you don't inadvertently save over something.
