SW2004 Assembly Sectioning Issues

  1. Hi all,

    Just upgraded to 2004 and now wish I hadn't. I'm reviewing a low/medium
complexity asswmbly (about 80 -100 parts) and I'm trying to look through
each of the shafts on the assembly in turn to view the bearing arrangement
on each. Normally I'd use the assembly section view through each through the
"top" or "front" plane of the shaft or bearing or whatever else lies on tht
axis and it works fine. In 2004 I do this and the wonderful new live
previewer shows me what my section will look like (correctly) but when I
click "ok" the section plane jumps to some wierd arbitrary plane nowhere
near where I wanted the section to be..... anyone else experienced this?
Sectioning on faces of parts in an assembly seems to be ok, but sectioning
on the prinicipal part planes within an assembly falls flat on its backside
    every time! HELP!

Have you tried grabbing the drag handle in the middle and moving the
section plane thru the assembly? I'm assuming you're using the new
section view tool. If not, look it up in help. It works really great.

I've seen that happen, although it is working fine right now. At the time,
any cutting plane that was parallel to one of the 3 primary assembly planes
would work fine. If it wasn't parallel, it would be thrown off at some
    distance, regardless of the preview.
