My computer has (3) harddrives. I have Solidworks
installed on the same HD as my operating system(XP Pro).

Would it be good idea to uninstall, and reinstall SW
on #2 drive, without the OS? Or a waste of time?

The optimum is to have it on a different hard drive than your Windows
pagefile (swap file). If your pagefile is on a different drive, then
leave SolidWorks where it is. If the pagefile is on the same hard
drive, then move IT, and STILL leave SolidWorks where it is!

Personally, if I have a single hard drive, I partition it in two, with
about 10-20 Gb for the C: for the OS, and the rest for the program files
and data. I prefer to have 2 separate physical drives and keep my data on
    the second (bigger) one.

This is because I tend to reinstall my OS every 6-9 months, and its nice to
keep some of the stuff that installs with files (like, say templates,
    library and macro data)

The document data is on a separate drive in case of a hard drive failure.

Spork's right too, but approaching it from a speed point of view.
