Is there a 3rd party patch that allows SW 2006 to run on 32-bit Vista?

XP Pro OEM edition. It doesn't run on Vista, but it's probably more cost
effective than any patch could be.

I should add that I am not aware of a patch to do this. I have heard some
report of running SW in compatability mode, which is set on the
    sldworks.exe properties.

Funny thing is SW2006 loads fine on Vista. Actually it runs OK right after
the load, but craps out on re-launch. The DWGeditor and eDrawings contniue
to work OK on Vista. Solidworks is asking $1500.00 to upgrade SW2006 to
SW2007. The price of new SW2007 license is $5500.00. If there is a software
genius who could come up with a patch to fix this, he could be laughing to
bank. I know it is not that difficult for some code master out there. Are
    you out there??

Sounds to me like an issue with system dlls. They usually get swapped
    out during a reboot/restart.

I thought VISTA was windows compatible?

Why would you want to use Vista? XPP is only $150.00, and is
    supported for all current versions.
Consider downtime with Vista and Solidworks...suddenly XPP is a really
    good deal.
Also, SW won't be the only software that is incompatible with Vista,
and when they finally roll a version out, then you've got to wait for
    patches for Vista and SW.

    Not worth it to me.

SW2007 is fully compatible with Vista. It is just that $1500 upgrade is a
rip-off. Regarding why Vista and not XPP, we were all on XPP and have
migrated to Vista as a group, not to mention how much smoother and faster
Vista is compare to XPP. After using Vista for last couple of weeks, I would
not want to downgrade, would you??

When you say faster, are you talking about SW being faster? If so have
you run benchmarks that show SW on XP and on Vista? Which VISTA are
    you running?

Since you did a group upgrade, are you running VISTA on the same
hardware that you ran XPP on? In other words, how much is smoother and
faster due to new hardware and how much is due to VISTA?

How could I be talking about SW being faster since I can not even run it on
Vista. I got Vista ultimate 32bit and on the same hardware, all other
applications run 2x fater than XPP. I thinkI found a way to run SW2006 on
Vista. I read a posting that some one is running SW2006 on Vista using "
compatibility mode" . I am yet to try it though.
