Just a thought because it happened to me once. Did you remember to save the
drawing before you used saveas. If not what you are describing will happen.

I am setting up a few drawings with reference files. Once everything is
referenced in, and my viewport displays how I want, I Save the drawing.
Then I Save As a different number, manipulate the viewport (pan, zoom,
etc.), then save that drawing. I repeat this a few times....I am setting up
drawings with similar background info., although in the end the drawings
    will serve different purposes.

The strange thing is when I get done with this process, and go back and open
one of the drawings, the preview icon looks fine, but upon opening the
drawing, the viewport reverts back to the way the original drawing looked.
The title block info. is all changed, so the changes took during each Save
As, but it's almost like the viewport is "locked" on that display.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the help.

Is UCSFOLLOW set to 0 in each viewport??

It may be that your viewports are resetting to a plan view of the "current" UCS in each viewport.

    Just a guess really!!
