standard notes becoming nightmare

We are now preparing to implement standards in our company (why any company would even start without standards is beyond me). In preparing or templates to start a new drawing with, I would like to add some standard notes. I am attempting to establish an effective method for this. I am using 2002 - hopefully soon 2004. I need a method of placing and editing the notes. I have the age old problem I know thousands out there must have, the spacing between the number and note. I know I can import from a text file. but even with that, there are so many methods. Where do I start? That may not even be the best way.
Some of our notes will have a triangle around the number and some will not. If the number and the note itself, are all one string of text, the number with a triangle will not have a period - which will push the note to the left misaligning it with the other notes.
Such a small item to cause such a catastrophe!
    What can I do?

P.s.: I tried txtins.lsp. It would not work.

do your notes in excel or word and use an importer much like dotsoft.com's
    xl2cad or word2cad.

  5. I know this sounds odd, but have you tried creating two columns of MTEXT - one
for numbers and the other for text?

    e.g.

    1. Note mtext paragraph
    note mtext paragraph
    note mtext paragraph

    2. Note mtext paragraph
    note mtext paragraph

    3. Note mtext paragraph

    4. Note mtext paragraph
    note mtext paragraph
    note mtext paragraph

    5. Note mtext paragraph

And in the numbers column just put hard returns between the numbers. In 2002 we
use this to great effect and it solved the alignment problem.

  6. Just be sure both pieces of Mtext are set to "exactly" line spacing, not "at
least", so they'll align with each other regardless of taller-than-ordinary
    characters like slashes and parentheses.
