Splitting a circle

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Henk van Winkoop, Jun 24, 2006.

  1. Hello,

As a newbie I would like to have a cicle split into a number of equally
    sized wedges.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks

    Henk

    HiHo;
Draw a line from the center of the circle out past the edge.

Use the Measure or Divide command , but first change the visibility of
the points these commands will display around the perimeter with two
sys. vars ; Pdmode and Pdsize look these up they control how a point
will look and what size points will be.

Both Measure and Divide will distribuate points along the line or
circle you Divide or Measure but if you don't change how points look on
your screen , you maby can't find them that's why you have to change
    their looks and size before.

When measured or Divided, you can draw lines from the center to each
    point.

You didn't see the responses to your earlier post?

LINE from the circle's center out to the circumference, then ARRAY / Polar /
    ....
    or
DIVIDE command, then connect the dots.

  5. It's one of those counter-intuitive things in acad. You can't use BREAK on a
closed entity like a circle. You will probably end up using ARRAY>>POLAR on
a ARC, or maybe COPY and ROTATE. You *can't* do what you want without an
ARC. You *can* do it without a CIRCLE.

But who say you need the circle --- now you have the intersect points,
acturly if you have this problem you proberly beforehand made sure you
can just delete the circle and replace it with a number of arches ,
anyway you would engage Trim to make sure the line stay within the
perimeter ,the Circle proberly be useless after you found the points.
But all this depend why you from the start want to divide a cricle.

  7. The OP mentions the starting with a circle...

Maybe I'm missing something here but couldn't that be done by using a
polygon with the number of wedges he wants and then circumscribing a circle
around it? He could draw the wedges he wants and then delete the polygon.

  10. You still have to find a way to break the circle...see my other post. You
can't do this without using an ARC.
