    Hi,
I'm trying to make a 10" shaft w/ a 1.5" spline in the center. anyone
know how to make a spline shaft, and how to cut spline grove into a
round disk (1" hole in the center).
    thanks

  2. The picture in my mind is that in reality you start with a piece of
shafting, turn down the area on either side of the splined area in the
middle, then cut the splines on a hobbing machine. This would be like a
transmission shaft with a gear splined to the middle. If that's the
picture, then to do it in SW, follow the same path - make the full shaft,
turn the ends, cut the spline profile. Come back with more explanation or
some kind of picture if this isn't enough help.
