So I have played around with this off and on for the past year or so,
but, and I know this must have been there, I just noticed that if you
turn on the curvature comb, you can see some really interesting
changes. Not that the curvature comb is anything new, but the spline on
surface gives it a whole new type of control that does not seem to be
    accessible.

Normally the curvature comb shows the transition at the 2D level. Easy
to control X,Y to get what you are looking for. The Spline on the
surface, now shows a 3D change, which now gives you control on the Z
axis. So this is where I start to wonder what kind of control should
there to be adjust the rise off the 2D plane? you have control over the
X,Y,Z numerically as well as moving the point, but should there be
more? Should the ability to, say, "tab" the direction of the CV on the
spline come into play? Also the control polygon seems to change
orientation according to the view that it is in. This opens up even
more questions as well as possibilities.

What is controlling the "vertical aspect" of the curvature comb? Should
it be possible to select it to make it perpendicular to the surface
that it is on? How about Tangent? or even Curvature continuous
properties? Of course in the end it is about what you are using the
program for, and I don't know if any program as do what I am asking.
