Specify units for the area of an object?

Is there a way to specify certain units when trying to find the area of an object?

Right now I find the area of an object by typing area-add-object, or just list and select the object. When it comes up with the area it gives it in the units the drawing was made with.

What I want to do is switch the units. For example, I want to take a drawing done in millimeters and find the area in square feet. Can this be done? Or is it a good wish list item?

    TIA

    Hi spectrefish,

This is a situation where scaling the drawing / part is in order. Scale it up X 25.4 and now it is inches. Scale it up X 12 and now it is feet. Or (12 x 25.4) scale it up once X 304.8 and it's in feet. Now list it again. Don't save if you don't want to keep or set it on another layer, freeze it if you want to keep it in the drawing for reference or Wblock it out to another name....lots of options. GL

I should be a little more clear, I'm trying to avoid having to scale the object/drawing.

Look into the Autolisp expression "cvunit".

You could run it manually after AREA returns the millimetres value, or you
could automate it with a little programming.
