Some lines won't print

  1. Okay folks,
This is a good one! We are using AD2 on Windows 2000 and XP machines. We
    have a LaserJet 5000, LaserJet 5100 and a DesignJet 750 C Plus for our
    printers and plotters.

I'm in a drawing where I have about 15 plan details. I have some lines that
just refuse to print. These lines are on the same darn layers that the ones
that will print are on. There isn't anything obvious about it.

IN order to get it to print, you have to erase the lines and redraw them.
Or I'm finding that you can copy clip them out, paste them into a new
drawing, then copyclip them back into the original drawing and sometimes
    that will work, sometimes not.

Using a different machine or a different printer doesn't seem to work
either. The LaserJets are hooked directly to our server and the DesignJet
    has a Plotter server.

STrange stuff! Has anyone had this happen at all?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. You need to look for the resolution under the plotter manager -> custom
properties and then correlate that with the plotter specs. You do still
    have the manual right.
It comes done to the fact that printers/plotters are printing rows of dots.
If you have too coarse a resolution, i.e. "draft mode", lines that are thin
enough to fall between two rows will not print. If you kick you setting up
to "fine" you probably won't have a problem with any line, but you will
increase your plotting time. "Normal" setting is usually sufficient to cure
    most problems.

The only other problem I can think off is that all your printers need the
printheads cleaned or replaced, an unlikely occurrence.

PS, I assumed that you checked to make sure that color and lineweight were
    set to "Bylayer".

  3. Yes all the resolution is set just fine. And we're not printing in
draftmode. It has nothing to do with lines not printing because they are
too thin. I have lines that print that are exactly the same as lines that
    don't print.

The printers don't need new printheads because this would happen all the
time and it only happens once in a while on certain drawings.

On the last note all the lines are set to bylayer on all aspects. Again,
there is no rhyme or reason why some of these will print and some won't.
They are all drawn exactly alike. Plus, if you copyclip them somewhere
else, they work just fine. I just don't think it has anything to do with
    the printers at all.

    Thanks for your help,
