Solidworks Support / Reseller in the UK

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a Solidworks Reseller in the UK who really knows their
onions? We're looking to change ours, because the engineers have lost faith
in them; the only tangible benefit we get from them is updates to the
program (even that is a mixed blessing, with SolidWorks!). The engineers
don't make support calls any more because they get the opinion that the
reseller doesn't take their problems seriously.

We want a proactive company who wants to work with us to make SolidWorks run
efficiently and to spec. A company that can take subtle hints like "Sell us
a fast new computer" and actually act upon it. We're in the Midlands, but
don't really care where the reseller is, as long as they're in the UK.

    Any takers/recommendations?

    Regards,

    Pete.

We've been with Cadtek in Oxfordshire (we're based in Kent) since we
first bought Solidworks in 2002. I've only had to call support a couple
of times, but they've been very helpful, including a call back a couple
of days later to check if things were still ok.

    Pete,

    who are you currently with?

The obvious one would be SOLIDSOLUTIONS in Warwick - (If you don't know
them speak to Alan Sampson, and by all means mention my name) but
others close that I know are NTCADCAM in Haddenham and CADTEK (already
    mentioned).

Most of 'em seem to have satellite offices around the country but at
the end of the day it's all about finding someone you are happy working
    with.

I'm in Oxfordshire and use SOLIDSOLUTIONS - not the closest - NT are
2miles away! purely because I've known them and worked with Alan since
the early 90's - when we used Matra-Datavision's EUCLID

    Hope this helps

    Pete,

Same here. We have used Solid Solutions at Warwick
    www.solidsolutions.co.uk
They have been very helpful, often replying back the same day. We are
based in Stafford in the West midlands. Started with SW2001.

    Thanks Kev.

I'd rather not say who we are currently with; after all, the problem may be
more with us than them, and it wouldn't be fair to bad-mouth them in a
public forum such as this without them being able to reply.

I agree that it's all about finding someone you're happy with, and we'll be
arranging meetings with several of the companies mentioned in the replies we
    have.

    Regards,

    Pete.

  7. You might take a look at d2m3. I don't know anything about them other than
they seem to have a pretty good handle on Conisio. I am in the US, so take
this comment for what it cost you. :)

    Hi Pete,
I am with Ntcadcam at Oxford and have had many problems both with them and
Solidworks, BUT now they have a great guy, Richard the kiwi, (lol), who
    really knows his stuff.

Our collaborated Pdmworks system now works as it should and Solidworks is
now blistering fast, ( compared to 2005).

    Hope this is helpful!

Thanks Pete - we'll put them on the interview list! A blisteringly fast
Solidworks is the only thing we need!! <g>

Please share with us how they set up your environment to be blistering
    fast!!!
Describe the server, how much RAm, what kind of NIC? What type hard
drives? How fast? How many seats? How can we all achieve this?? Is
everyone hardwired into a hub? What's the set-up. We are in a
position to make changes. Our VAR's reply was too vague.
