SolidWorks DVD and video tutorials

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Phil in Melbourne, Nov 3, 2007.

  1. I am learning SolidWorks for the first time. I am familiar with a few
electronics CAD packages, but am now exploring designing metal parts and
eventually would like to use SolidWorks to design my future house.

I am looking for video tutorials. I have seen a few from JP Technology which
are good, but wondering what your thoughts are...

In my opinion JP Technologies SolidWorks videos are horribly done.

If your looking for quality try:

    SolidProfessor videos.

    myigetit.com

FX CAD Solutions videos sold on E-Bay.

    http://www.video-tutorials.net/zshop/ also sold on E-Bay.

You should also check out the SolidMentor website because
SolidMentor's owner has made it very clear he wants new users and
students posting to the SolidMentor website where as Eng-Tips doesn't
want students posting and will ban them.

    Or any of those.

So NOW you are a "student"?
    <Snicker>

Actually, you'd probably be much better off with AutoCad
for that. That sort of thing is one of their target markets IIRC
(and has been for a long time) and there must be scadds of
add-ons, libraries, vendor parts, etc. Whole user groups too
    I'd think.
AND several Usenet newsgroups, probably many BBS
systems, etc. Your possible suppliers for such projects may
    even be tied in.
I'm not knocking SW but ... it's not targeting that market AFAIK
(nor am I suggesting that it should).
